Abstract

In obsessive-compulsive disorders the heterogeneous nature of the disorders have been recognized by several authors. The most promising attempts to split obsessive-compulsive disorders into subgroups are based on clinical characteristics and symptoms configuration. As a result of epidemiological, neurobiological and treatment studies, the disorder can better be understood as a spectrum of multiple, potentially overlapping syndromes.
