Abstract

Traditional transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) protocols have a low sensitivity in detecting subclinical impairment of corticospinal pathways in early stages of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The triple stimulation technique combines magnetic stimulation of the motor cortex and peripheral nerve stimulation and is superior to conventional TMS with respect to early diagnosis of probable or definite ALS.
