Abstract
Fast and efficient syntheses of 2-3, -dideoxynucleoside-5, -0-(a-f/t2o)tiiphosphates (a-S-ddNTP’s) starting from 2'-deoxynucleosides are described. They have been used in a modified DNA-sequencing method and were tested as potential inhibitors of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase. An X-ray structure of 3'-deoxythymidine is presented and compared to other known T-dideoxynucleoside structures.
