Abstract
Radiotherapy is one of the cornerstones in the treatment of patients with malignant diseases. Even in the palliative treatment setting, irradiation is firmly established as a treatment option, especially for patients with brain and bone metastases. Technological advances as well as changing paradigms in the understanding of oncological diseases, such as the concept of oligometastatic disease, place special demands on radiotherapy in an interdisciplinary context. Against this background this article summarizes the role of radiotherapy in the treatment of patients with metastatic breast cancer.
