Abstract

Simultaneous radiochemotherapy (RCT) is a new treatment modality in radiooncology, especially for curative treatment of locally advanced head and neck cancer. RCT is indicated in inoperable tumors or in lesions where complete resections would be associated with severe functional impairment. RCT yields local control and survival figures higher then standard radiotherapy and comparable to curative surgery.
