Remote Interaction Tool for Wireless Sensor Networks

Fadi Tirkawi, Stefan Fischer

Abstract

Wireless Sensor networks (WSN) are mainly designed for tracking and monitoring purposes. So far, many proposals have been made for applications, routing and link layers in WSNs. However, less work has been done in monitoring, managing and controlling of the nodes themselves. Here we are introducing a tool which supports efficient methods and techniques to monitor the individual sensor node or the whole network. Our tool supports troubleshooting, analysis, application development and management. It also increases the interaction possibilities and debugging of WSNs by adding remote capsules (called stubs or management entities in this paper) controlled by other end points or by users through user-friendly Graphical user interfaces. The features of generality, control, portability and extendibility supported by this tool make it a useful application for the researchers and general users.
