Randomization In Treatment Arms (RITA): Ein Randomisierungs-Programm für klinische Studien

A central issue in performing controlled clinical trials is the randomization of study participants in different treatment groups. In general, we utilize a software tool for correct implementation, documentation and utilization of more complex procedures. In this paper, we therefore describe the development of a new randomization program. We begin by presenting explorations that have preceded the actual program design and implementation. In particular, we discuss the selection of suitable randomization procedures. In the design of the program, we have laid special emphasis on simple handling and the possibility to easily extend the program.
