Abstract
One of the major causes for female infertility is identified by endometriosis, which is a disorder of the endometrial function and tissue lining of the uterus. The aim of this research is to develop methods to enable the automated analysis of the peristaltic waves of the uterus mucosa from sequences of MRI images. Automatic methods are needed within the framework of a larger clinical study to provide objective measurements. In this contribution we show that computer-vision methods like block matching and the optical flow can be successfully used for these purposes. In particular the optical flow of the analyzed sequences represents an adequate basis for the computation of quantitative and qualitative measures of the peristaltic waves. Ongoing research aims at automatizing this method for a larger sample number.
