Abstract
The Breast Committee of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Gynäkologische Onkologie (German Gynecological Oncology Group, AGO) provides annual recommendations on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. In the current update for axillary surgery, the presence of micrometastases and isolated tumor cells after Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy (NACT) and the clinical consequences of low volume axillary involvement assessed by SLNE and TAD were included for the first time. This article gives an overview of this year’s AGO recommendations for surgical management of the axilla in primary surgery of breast cancer and in the context of neoadjuvant treatment.
