Abstract
Comparison of Methods: Subjective psychoacoustic hearing assessment still is the basis of pedaudiological diagnostic of hearing disorders. Additional objective and frequency specific hearing tests are useful if no reliable thresholds can be obtained. Besides stapedius reflex audiometry and click-evoked brainstem responses new techniques like transient evoked otoacoustic emissions, distortion-product otoacoustic emissions and frequency specific auditory brainstem responses have been established for this purposes. In this study, the variety of methods is discussed according to frequency specificity, reliability, practicability and time consumption, demonstrating typical case reports. The results indicate, that an individual plan of hearing tests is necessary for a rational diagnostic of hearing disorders in children.
