Abstract
Suspicions of treatment errors and adverse events have to be dealt with very careful prevention by good explanation, documentation, informed consent and treatment following recognized guidelines is important. After an adverse event establish a concise protocol with everybody involved. Accusations have to be dealt with in a conference between the chief of the department, the head nurse and administrator in a quiet representative room. Everything patients or relatives say has to he taken seriously and unemotionally. If the attorney general is involved get copies before they take the patients documentation away. Inform the administrator and the insurance. Never admit a mistake before talking to the lawyer of your insurance.
