Abstract
Treatment that preserves the organ and its normal function has gained acceptance for many tumor entities in the last 2 decades, e.g., in breast cancer, larynx cancer and other squamous cell carcinomas in the head and neck regions, or gastrointestinal tumors. Radio(chemo)therapy plays a major role in these therapy concepts. A treatment concept aimed at preserving the organ also makes sense from the oncological perspective in cases of muscle-invading bladder cancer as a alternative to radical cystectomy, and its efficacy has been well documented by clinical data.
