Linked Sensor Data as Basis for Context-aware Mobile Applications

Claudia Becker, Sönke Nommensen, Maick Danckwardt

Abstract

In this paper we present a system construct for providing Linked Sensor Data. We aim to use Linked Sensor Data to determine environmental context information in mobile applications. We show how to publish sensor readings stored in a relational database to the Web of Data using the D2R Server. We present our solutions for publishing Linked Sensor Data, including URI space design, re-use of vocabularies as well as interlinking and "RDFising" our data. We discuss reasons for the use of Linked Sensor Data in mobile applications and give an outlook on exemplary scenarios. One of these possible scenarios is a mobile social network, which can provide user-centric and user-assisting services by gathering information about the users' environmental context.
