N2 - Light-induced spin crossover has been observed for the first time by means of Mössbauer spectroscopy for a Fe(II) complex embedded in a Nafion membrane. The results obtained confirm other independent observations we have made, which point to the possibility of generating a long-lived HS state by means of laser irradiation of the same system (C. Brady, PhD thesis Queens University, Belfast 2002; J.A. Wolny, H. Toftlund, J.J. McGarvey, C. Brady, manuscript in preparation).
