Abstract

Here, we describe a female patient with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, who developed severe side effects while being treated with glatiramer acetate (Copaxone). Thus, therapy with Copaxone was stopped and the patient received interferon -1b. Under this therapy an episode of mild depression with a lack of drive and aggressiveness occurred. These symptoms, considered as possible adverse effects, completely resolved during treatment interruption. Afterwards, therapy with interferon -1b was restarted and well tolerated without any adverse effects. This case demonstrates that mild depressive symptoms under treatment with interferon -1b are not necessarily a reason for a change of treatment.
