Abstract

Intersexual development describes rare disorders of somatosexual differentiation. The incidence is 2 in 10,000 deliveries per year in Germany. Intersexual malformations comprise a heterogeneous group of diagnoses, including virilitation in 46,XX karyotype or reduced virilitation in 46,XY karyotype. The alterations are sometimes detected after puberty. Treatment in adolescents with intersexual malformations consists of psychosexual care, hormonal replacement and counselling concerning surgical interventions.
