Abstract

The aim of this article is to describe the current academic situation in the training of physiotherapists and to present the experiences at the SRH University of Applied Health Science in bachelor’s and master’s degree programs for an interdisciplinary academization of physiotherapy. After a background on the general importance of academically trained physiotherapists, the main focus is on the first interdisciplinary clinical scientific master’s program in Germany at the SRH University of Applied Health Science. The close clinical integration of the educational contents and the scientifically founded further study topics are discussed. The performance and applied scientific perspectives of the graduates are illustrated by means of examples.
