Abstract
Ethical considerations should be integral to the development process right from the start. We elaborate on the underlying rationale, especially pertaining to the difference between regulatory compliance and ethical reflection. We further present responsible research and innovation in health as an appropriate framework for integrating ethical considerations during innovation processes. We briefly discuss how responsible research and innovation practice may pay off and provide concrete tools in the form of a list of possible ethical issues as well as introductions into methodologies that can aid in managing responsible research and innovation practice as a collaborative team effort.
