Abstract
Minimally invasive diagnostic procedures have led to minimally invasive surgery. Its low morbidity and high diagnostic accuracy have altered the status of traditional laparotomy. Minor operations such as cholecystectomy, arthroscopy with resection of cartilage, and pelvic surgery have become standard procedures. To improve cosmetic results and render operations even less invasive, a trocar was developed that allows the need for only a single incision. This new technique and first experiences are described in this paper.
