Abstract

Purpose: Which source of information do rehabilitants use before rehabilitation? For which topics do they wish more information? How do they evaluate their own knowledge about rehabilitation? Materials and Methods: 6 focus groups with 32 rehabilitants at the end of rehabilitation and 24 telephonic interviews with rehabilitants before rehabilitation were analyzed by means of qualitative content analysis. Results: Rehabilitants used relatives/friends, physicians and the internet as primarily sources of information. They wish more information which comprises the whole process of rehabilitation. The self-evaluation of the own knowledge varies greatly. A lot of rehabilitants do not feel sufficiently informed about rehabilitation. Conclusion: Information which are easy to understand, easily accessible and relevant for rehabilitants, could increase knowledge about rehabilitation.
