Abstract
Alkali burns in children: Chemical burns in children are even rarer then in adults and lead to deep tissue defects. Quicklime, a strongly basic substance, is a source for alkali burns. Therapy: After initial extensive irrigation and debridement, conservative treatment according to burn standards is possible. Suprathel® as an alloplastic skin replacement also leads to complete wound healing in alkali burns. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
