Commercialization of a magnetic particle spectrometer

M. Erbe, T.F. Sattel, T.M. Buzug

Abstract

In this contribution the commercialization process of a magnetic particle spectrometer (MPS) for the industrial application is described. The MPS is a tool to characterize magnetic nanoparticles in only seconds. It provides information about the dynamic magnetization behavior as well as the particles' core size distribution. After having implemented a functional model MPS the development of a prototype MPS, which will then be launched for the market, is described. Furthermore, the process of building up a spin-off company is discussed. This project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology via the EXIST Forschungstransfer.
