Abstract

We thank Dr. Sabour for his interest in our work regarding biventricular endomyocardial biopsy (EMB) in patients with suspected myocarditis [1]. In his comment, he suggests several statistical models for a comprehensive assessment of diagnostic accuracy and precision. We agree that these analyses are definitely required when comparing a new diagnostic approach with the recommended reference standard. However, such an approach requires knowledge about the true diagnosis. In the context of myocarditis and myocardial storage diseases, EMB and histopathological workup are the reference methods.
