Abstract

The scientific study group Junior Investigators (WAKWIN) of the German Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (DGAI) initiates and coordinates a program to support the application process for research grants from the German Research Foundation. The program is supported by the DGAI, and is intended to aid junior investigators of the DGAI with the application for a research grant from the German Research Foundation by providing the professional and strategic help of a scientific expert with the aim of improving the chances to obtain funding. The scientific experts can be chosen by the applicants themselves. The program provides for appropriate financial reward to the scientific experts for their efforts. In the event of a successful application, the experts will receive an additional fee. The decision to support an application process is made by a committee of WAKWIN on the basis of a summary of the proposal together with a questionnaire about the research project. Applications for professional support can be submitted at any time. Up to 20 professional consultations per year may be supported. The WAKWIN and the DGAI call for suitable candidates to participate in the program.
