Abstract

Nuclear inelastic scattering (NIS) measurements were carried out to account for the angular dependence of the vibrational modes of a molecular crystal. For this purpose, the iron(II) spin-crossover complex [Fe(tptMetame)](ClO4)2 (tptMetame=1,1,1-tris{[N-(2-pyridylmethyl)]-N- methylamino]methyl}ethane) was selected. As a result, it was possible to identify for the first time individual anisotropic normal modes of vibration of a molecular crystal.
