A Reconstruction Approach for Non-contract Photoacoustic Tomography

Ievgen Verbytskyi, Christian Buj

Abstract

Noncontact holographic photoacoustic tomography (PAT) is a new noncontact imaging method where tissue displacement is used for a primary pressure absorber reconstruction. The imaging method has the same physical fundamentals as contact PAT imaging, therefore for noncontact PAT reconstruction may be used known reconstruction procedure of contact PAT. It is only necessary to develop an approach of recalculation the displacement on tissue border to pressure. The recalculation approach proposed in the paper is based on the momentum conservation law. A model for the approach implemented in the k-Wave toolbox. A high quality of experimental data reconstruction confirms the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
