Abstract
Reminiscent of a windmill, the novel triple‐helicate [(FeIII)2FeIIOL3] 1,
a neutral oxo‐centered mixed‐valence complex, is formed in a one‐pot
reaction by self‐assembly. The pentadentate ligand L acts in a tritopic
fashion and connects the three iron ions in a triangular plane. At the
center of 1 lies μ3‐O2‐ ion. The structural similarity of 1 with trinuclear carboxylatoiron complexes is striking.
