Abstract

We present an 840nm Fourier domain mode locked (FDML) based swept-source OCT system with an A-Scan rate of 1.7MHz. The laser shows promising performance for retinal imaging with 10mW output power and a theoretical axial resolution in water of 12μm. The system demonstrates shot-noise-limited behavior, achieving a sensitivity of 84dB and no roll-off over the analog bandwidth of the balanced photodetector. In-vivo ophthalmic images are presented to show the performances of the laser.
