TabiRi-HKS: Tablet-based patient information on skin cancer screening with individual risk assessment

Project: Endowments Endowments

Project Details

Description

Participation in skin cancer screening remains very low.

The project aims to improve patient information about skin cancer screening (SCS). Using modern and low-threshold tools, SCS will be integrated into daily medical practice. To this end, an interactive, multimedia information system for tablet PCs with an integrated risk calculator based on established tools will be developed. It is intended to effectively support patients in their personal decision for or against SCS and thus reduce suspected under-provision in the field of SCS. The information is also available in plain language and two foreign languages. Patients and practice teams will be involved throughout the entire development process. By incorporating media and IT expertise (Trier University of Applied Sciences), optimal pragmatic system qualities will be achieved. This will result in a usable and attractive tablet application that motivates engagement with the topic of SCS. It can reach large segments of the population, provide individualized information about SCS, and improve the (informed) participation rate.
