The QuaMaDi pilot project was supported by several health insurance companies, the regional Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians of Schleswig-Holstein, the State Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Family, Youth, and Senior Citizens of Schleswig-Holstein (and the German Cancer Aid).
Women were enrolled in QuaMaDi after providing written informed consent (including consent to participate, double and expert review, and data analysis).
Ethics committee approval was not required because QuaMaDi is a quality assurance project to improve standard breast cancer diagnosis.
Approximately 365,000 women live in the pilot region of Schleswig-Holstein. All women who are members of a statutory health insurance fund (approximately 90%) were eligible to participate in the project.
