OUTLIVE-CRC

Project Details

Description

The OUTLIVE-CRC joint project aims to explore ways of preventing recurrence in younger colorectal cancer patients and to develop multimarker models and nutritional interventions for its early detection.

In order to better tailor patient care to their needs, Outlive-CRC takes the patient perspective as their experiences are particularly important. Examinations and therapies are often associated with stress that can impair the quality of life of those affected. OUTLVE-CRC aims to implement their ideas for improvement so that they can be established in care. However, fears and reservations are also to be specifically addressed and thus reduced so that the hurdles to sustainable prevention for colorectal cancer patients can be lowered.

The sub-project ‘Patient Participation’ takes up existing demands for more participatory research in a superordinate and specially designed project.

For patient participation, N=40 patient representatives who, as affected individuals with a disease age before the age of 50, wish to participate in various areas of the project will be included. Qualitative methods will be used, including focus groups, group work, group discussions, phone calls, interviews, and tests at home or at the University of Luebeck. The evaluation of an app used in the nutrition study will also be carried out . In addition to testing the digital application or other project-related developments, this will also include answering questions about the acceptance of individual interventions, formulating requirements for test procedures, surveying the tolerability of nutritional interventions, querying resource consumption, piloting and commenting on survey instruments, and editing and commenting on texts to be published that are also understandable to laypeople.
