Project Details

Description

The inflammatory mediators IL-6 and IL-1β inhibit aspects of hedonic and homeostatic control of food intake. Our previous work has shown that the effects of IL-6 and IL-1β are mediated by IL-6 transsignaling and astrocytic/tanycytic NF-κB signalling, respectively. Using a set of genetic, viral and in-vivo physiological tools that we have established in the first funding period, we will further characterize the cell types that are involved and will analyse the molecular mechanisms by which inflammatory mediators control food intake.
