We recently demonstrated that stably differentiated Th2 cells can efficiently suppress endogenous CD4+ and CD8+ T cell responses in mouse models of viral infection and autoimmune type 1 diabetes. Therefore, we plan to (1.) investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms of this T cell suppression and its effects especially on autoimmune diabetes; (2.) generate human Th2 cells with stably immunosuppressive properties; and (3.) analyze the potential Th2 cell stabilizing effects of ustekinumab therapy (anti-IL-12/IL-23 p40) in psoriasis patients.
