Description

Characterising the cell-specific function of the TH transporters Mct8 and Oatp1c1 at murine brain barriers will disclose the pathways by which TH reaches defined neural target cells. This information is mandatory for understanding and eventually manipulating local changes in TH action in CNS under (patho-) physiological conditions. By taking advantage of Mct8/Oatp1c1 DKO mice as an animal model for human MCT8 deficiency, we further aim to develop a MCT8 gene therapy approach targeting murine brain barriers in order to restore proper TH action in the CNS.
