Description

Based on the promising results of the first study phase (see the work report in the appendix), the proposed project aims to investigate whether the neurophysiological processes underlying the results are based on a parallel activation of auditory and sensorimotor neuronal networks, or what other neuronal correlates can be found. A multidisciplinary approach (neurology, neuropsychology, musicology, and cognitive neuroscience) serves as the basis for this. The effects of music-assisted training will be compared with another recently developed evidence-based rehabilitation technique, Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIT; Taub; 1980, 2002). In addition to procedures such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), transcortical magnetic stimulation (TMS), and electroencephalography (EEG), behavioral measurement instruments for assessing patients' motor functions, such as the three-dimensional movement measurement (Zebris), and standardized occupational therapy motor testing procedures, will be used.
