General Description

The University's Research Awards for Medicine and for the STEM Departments will be funded in 2022 by the university spin-off Perfood. Luebeck-based Perfood GmbH (www.perfood.de) develops a range of digital therapies based on personalized nutrition. The company was founded in 2017 by Dominik Burziwoda (CEO), Dr. Torsten Schröder (Chief Medical Officer), Dr. Christoph Twesten (CTO) and Prof. Dr. Christian Sina, Director of the Institute of Nutritional Medicine at the University of Luebeck.

The Perfood Research Award for Medicine 2022 goes to two recipients:
Dr. rer. hum. biol. Anja Schaich at the Department for Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine for her outstanding publication „The Effectiveness of Metacognitive Therapy Compared to Behavioral Activation for Severely Depressed Outpatients: A Single-Center Randomized Trial“,
as well as to
Dr. rer. nat. Daniel Seiler at the Institute for Systemic Inflammation Research for his outstanding publication „C5aR2 Deficiency Ameliorates Inflammation in Murine Epidermolysis Bullosa Acquisita by Regulating Fcg Receptor Expression on Neutrophils“.
