General Description

The Otto Roth Award 2008 is awarded to Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Werner. He is honored for his dissertation "Optimized Protocols for Web Services with Limited Data Rates", which he wrote at the Institute of Telematics under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Stefan Fischer.
Dr. Christian Werner, born in 1977 in Salzgitter, has been a junior professor at the Institute of Telematics since 2007.
In his doctoral thesis, he developed a novel data compression method that allows much more efficient communication than before between devices that are equipped with few resources (weak processor, little memory). This will make it possible to integrate such devices into all kinds of applications in the future Internet.
