Scientific Focus
After completing his PhD in 2009, Dr. Masoud Darabi joined as a tenure-track professor at Iran Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. He has received fellowships from Heidelberg University in Germany, University of Nice Sophia Antipolis in France, and University of Sydney in Australia. In 2022, he joined UKSH after leading a project on lipid trafficking at Heidelberg University Hospital as an Alexander von Humboldt visiting professor. His research focuses on cellular communication through extracellular vesicles, which play a crucial role in cell development in both health and disease. With a multi-disciplinary approach involving biochemistry, molecular cell biology, he has developed expertise in lipid trafficking and membrane shedding. Dr. Darabi has published over 100 papers, supervised 3 PhD students, and taught for more than 5,100 hours.
