Organisation profile

About us

Autoimmune and chronic inflammatory skin diseases, such as pemphigoid, pemphigus, lupus erythematosus and psoriasis pose a major medical burden. Our mission at LIED is to identify the genetic and molecular basis of these diseases, enabling better diagnosis and treatment for patients.

LIED research is divided into four groups:

1. Medical Systems Biology (→Prof. Busch)

2. Visualisation of Cutaneous Inflammation (→Prof. Hundt)

3. Model Systems of Inflammatory Skin Diseases (→Prof. Ludwig)

4. Translational Research (→Prof. Schmidt)

UN Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. Our work contributes towards the following SDG(s):

  • SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-being
