Center for Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases (ZIEL)

Organisation profile

About us

The Centre for Infection and Inflammation (ZIEL) is an institution of the University of Lübeck that works closely with the University Medical Centre Schleswig-Holstein, the Leibniz Research Centre Borstel and numerous business partners. ZIEL`s activities are dedicated to research on infectious diseases and inflammatory processes and the translation of its findings into clinical medicine.

The research groups at ZIEL use the university's BMF research building, which was completed in 2019 and has 7,020 square metres of main usable space. It will house multifunctional biomedical and chemical laboratories as well as various central units that can be accessed by all working groups. The concept therefore also spatially supports interdisciplinary collaboration between the participating scientists from the fields of medicine, technology, computer science and natural sciences.
