Abstract
This article describes an early snapshot of the development of a wireless monitoring environment for human vital data in perioperational use. This work can be regarded as a special case of wireless realtime monitoring of mobile entities in limited indoor areas. For this purpose, this article proposes a generic middleware infrastructure with modular extensions for medical application. As a major part of the first development phase a demonstrator prototype has been assembled to verify the feasibility and to evaluate the applicability of Bluetooth hardware in realtime communication. Finally this paper gives a brief overview on the first experiences and measurement results on the used Bluetooth hardware.
