N2 - Ribozymes are promising tools for the specific inhibition of viral gene expression and replication. They represent one of the most attractive developments of antisense nucleic acids, which have been shown in the past few years to act as antiviral agents. Ribozymes not only complex with target sequences via complementary antisense sequences, but also hydrolyze the target site.
