Abstract

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a sleep disorder where the patient suffers from a disturbed airflow during sleep due to partial or complete closure of the upper airway. Little is known about the flow patterns in the human pharynx and their relationship with OSA1. Phase contrast-MRI (PC-MRI) was successfully used to study flow patterns in a stenotic phantom2. Therefore, the appl. of PC-MRI to study the flow patterns in the human pharynx phantom is investigated here.
