Abstract
The RNAi2009 conference provided an excellent overview of current developments in the field of RNAi, and allowed for active and productive discussions. Promising new developments included the revival of PEI-based delivery in vivo by shorter and branched versions of PEI, and the gymnotic delivery of antisense ODNs. This approach for drug delivery in vivo is highly promising, as is the use of the U1 adaptor technology to suppress gene expression. In both of these fields, rapid progress and novel mechanistic insights can be expected, and may boost the successful therapeutic application of ODN-based drugs, including siRNA, antisense ODNs, and miRNAs and their inhibitors.
