Abstract

This chapter reviews natural recovery research over the past years and focuses on new methodological approaches such as sampling methods, definitions of untreated remission, and longitudinal study designs. It will also address neglected areas in the field such as gender and cross-cultural differences. The current studies partly overcome shortcomings of their earlier predecessors. This chapter mainly focuses on alcohol problems.
