Morbus-Crohn-assoziierte kolorektale karzinome

Although fistula, abscess formation and stenosis are the most frequent complications in Crohn's disease, colorectal carcinoma is a rare complication that should not be neglected. Contrary to ulcerative colitis, there is no proven association between the underlying disease and malignant transformation. The probability for development of colorectal carcinoma depends on patients' age at primary diagnosis of Crohn's disease, duration and extent of inflammation. In this article we report four cases of colorectal carcinoma associated with Crohn's disease from our hospital and provide a review of the current literature.
