Effectiveness of communication training programmes for multi-professional dementia care: A systematic review

Denise Wilfling, Kristina Jäkel, Jost Steinhäuser, Katrin Balzer

Abstract

Caring for people with dementia is an especially challenging task for all health professionals involved. Effective communication between professionals and people with dementia has been linked to improved quality of life, less agitation and reduced burnout-risk for caregivers. However, whilst there is no doubt that effective communication training programmes are required, a valid information source guiding the choice of training methods is lacking.
