Leon F. Schmidt-Jiménez obtained his B.Sc. in Molecular Life Science from the University of Hamburg, where he focused on human genetics, while incoorporating academical stays at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide, Sevilla and RCV, Boehringer Ingelheim, Vienna. After participating in the iGEM (international Genetically Engineered Machine) competition for one year he started his M.Sc. in Molecular Life Science at the University of Lübeck, which he finished in 2020 with a strong focus on immunology.
Leon currently works at the Lübeck Institute for Experimental Dermatology (LIED), University of Lübeck in the lab of Prof. Ludwig. Leons work is affiliated with the DFG Clinical Research Unit CRU 303 "Pemphigoid Diseases - Molecular Pathways and their Therapeutic Potential" as well as the Collaborative Research Center CRC 1526 "Pathomechanisms of Antibody-mediated Autoimmunity (PANTAU)", where he works on recombinant monoclonal antibodies in the context of antibody transfer models of autoimmune blistering diseases, as well as the the impact of complement factor C3 to autoimmune disease initiation and progression.
As an associated PhD candidate Leon is also part of the DFG Research Training Unit 2633 "Defining and targeting Autoimmune Pre-Disease", where he is supervised by Prof. Dr. Ralf Ludwig, Prof. Dr. Admar Verschoor and PD. Dr. Katja Bieber.
2015 einigten sich UN-Mitgliedstaaten auf 17 globale Ziele für nachhaltige Entwicklung (Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs) zur Beendigung der Armut, zum Schutz des Planeten und zur Förderung des allgemeinen Wohlstands. Die Arbeit dieser Person leistet einen Beitrag zu folgendem(n) SDG(s):
